On Monday we had a nice start to the week looking at time conjunctions in English. On Tuesday we read a little more of the Ice palace and started to put together a detailed story map of the story so far. It was a really good way of remembering the key points of the story. On Wednesday it was so nice and snowy we couldn’t resist going and playing in the snow. We set ourselves a challenge – could we build a shelter out of the snow like Ivan did? It was very tricky but good fun! Have a look at the blog below for the pictures of us building. Today we have read some more of Ice Palace, it’s getting a little scary now! Then we answered some questions on the text.
On Tuesday we spent the afternoon becoming mountain explorers. We watched plant earth – mountains with David Attenborough. The children made some fantastic notes which we can use in our topic. On Wednesday afternoon we started our new music topic, playing the glockenspiels. The children were really good at following the tune and finding the pulse. This afternoon we carried on looking at our lent challenge.
I have sent our new homework and spellings. As it is Fairtrade fortnight, homework is a Fairtrade poster. They will have to look at what Fairtrade is then create a poster. If they do not have access to the internet they can ask to do it at some point in school next week.
Where’s Wally has been rearranged for Tuesday 6th March.
Our learner of the week this week is Charlotte for her extra effort and her amazing Snow poem that she did with Mrs Cooper. Well done Charlotte. Our house point winner this week is Michael, on the snow day he wrote a fantastic piece of writing from the perspective of a snowflake with his brother. He received 15 house points for his effort! Have a look at 5LM’s blog to read it.
Have a lovely weekend and keep safe!
